Looking for Door & Window Services?

Every door and window job is different. You may be fitting out a new home, replacing windows that let in dust and noise, choosing a main door, glazing a shop front, or adding mesh to windows you want to keep open.

Your priorities may differ too — sealing out dust, cutting road noise, security at the entrance, or simply a sliding track that still runs smoothly in five years.

The difficulty is not finding someone who sells doors and windows. It is finding someone who measures your opening before ordering.

Door & Window Services in India

Door and window work is not one job. It is many — a material, an opening type, a main door, a fire rated unit, a repair. Every service below opens its own page, so you can go straight to what your opening needs.

Not listed here? Describe it in your own words in the requirement box — door and window work rarely fits neatly into one category.

Who it is for

Designed for Different Types of Customers

Who these door and window services are for — the marketplace can be useful for:

build

New construction & renovation

Doors and windows for a house or building under construction, chosen and measured at the right stage so openings are formed to suit them.

home_repair_service

Replacing what is already there

Old wooden frames that have warped or swollen, windows that let in dust and noise, or sliding tracks that no longer run — replaced within the existing opening where possible.

door_front

Main door & entrance

The one door everyone sees and touches. Usually chosen for appearance and security together, and often the only opening where solid wood still makes sense.

storefront

Shops, showrooms & offices

Commercial doors and windows, glass fronts and automatic entrance doors, where daily footfall and appearance both matter.

local_fire_department

Compliance requirements

Fire rated doors for stairwells, lobbies and commercial buildings, where the rating and certification are inspected rather than optional.

theaters

Comfort upgrades

Soundproof windows on a busy road, mosquito mesh on openings you want to keep open, and better sealing against dust and rain.

Understanding door and window

About door and window services in India

Doors and windows are the parts of a building you physically handle every single day, and the only ones that have to move, seal and stay secure at the same time. They are also the parts most often chosen last, from whatever is in stock, after the openings have already been built — which is exactly why so many of them never quite work properly.

Indian conditions are hard on them. Monsoon humidity swells timber, dust finds every gap in a poor seal, coastal air corrodes the wrong metal, and summer heat moves frames that were fitted tight. The material that suits an air-conditioned bedroom in a city flat is not the one for a bathroom or a coastal balcony.

Dealer, manufacturer or fabricator: who you are actually buying from

This is the most useful distinction in the trade, and almost nobody explains it. All three describe themselves as door and window suppliers, but they do different things.

  • Dealer — stocks and sells ready-made doors and windows from brands they represent. Fastest option, and the right one when your openings match standard sizes.
  • Manufacturer — produces the units themselves. Usually where you end up for volume, or for a specific product line.
  • Fabricator — cuts and assembles profiles to your exact measurements, in a workshop or on site. This is who you need for non-standard openings, which in Indian homes is most of them.
  • Installer — fits what has been supplied. Sometimes the same party, often not — and this is where responsibility gets blurred when something does not fit.

Ask which of these you are dealing with, and specifically who is responsible if the unit does not fit the opening. When supply and installation sit with different parties, that question has a habit of going unanswered.

Choosing the material

Material is the decision that determines cost, maintenance and lifespan together. Each one is genuinely better somewhere.

  • Wood — the only material with real presence, which is why main doors are still wooden. Needs periodic polishing and can swell in humidity. Best for entrance and interior doors, rarely the right answer for a bathroom or an exposed window.
  • Aluminium — strong, slim profiles and large glass areas. Handles weather well, conducts heat, and is a common choice for balconies, commercial fronts and large openings.
  • UPVC — seals well against dust, rain and noise, needs almost no maintenance, and does not corrode. Popular for windows in dusty cities and coastal areas; profile quality and reinforcement vary a lot between suppliers.
  • Steel — chosen for security and for fire rated applications. Entrance doors, service doors, industrial openings.
  • WPC and PVC — waterproof and immune to termites, which makes them the sensible choice for bathroom doors where wood eventually fails.
  • Glass — for doors and windows where light and openness are the point. The specification of the glass matters as much as the frame: toughened where safety is required, laminated or insulated where noise is the problem.

How it opens matters as much as what it is made of

  • Sliding — takes no swing space, so it suits balconies and tight rooms. Track quality decides whether it still runs smoothly in five years.
  • Casement — hinged and opening outward or inward. Seals better than sliding, so it performs better against dust and noise.
  • Folding — opens up a whole wall. Used for balconies, terraces and restaurant fronts.
  • French — paired doors, usually glazed, opening to a balcony or garden.
  • Automatic — sensor-operated entrance doors for shops, showrooms, clinics and offices.

Sliding is chosen most often and complained about most often, almost always because of hardware rather than the frame. Ask what track and rollers are being supplied, not just the profile.

Measurement: the step that cannot be undone

Once a door or window is fabricated to a size, it cannot be stretched. This is the single biggest difference between this trade and most others on the site, and it is worth slowing down for.

  • Insist on an on-site measurement before anything is ordered. A size taken from a drawing is not a measurement.
  • Openings are rarely square. A good fabricator measures at several points and works to the smallest.
  • Agree who makes good the plaster, tiling or finish around the opening after fitting.
  • Confirm whether the quoted size is the door frame or window frame size, or the opening size — they are not the same, and confusing them is a common and expensive mistake.
  • Get the final measured sizes in writing before production starts.

This applies equally to new door installation and to window replacement in an existing opening. In a replacement the old frame sets the constraint, so the measurement has to be taken from what is actually there rather than from the original drawing.

Special requirements worth specifying properly

  • Fire rated doors — rated for a defined period and certified. Required in stairwells, lobbies and many commercial buildings. Ask for the certification, not just the description.
  • Soundproof doors and windows — achieved through glass specification, sealing and frame construction together. A single element on its own will not do much.
  • Mosquito mesh — available as fixed, sliding, pleated or roll-up. Worth deciding at the same time as the window rather than adding awkwardly later.
  • Security — grille integration, multi-point locking, and the quality of the lock rather than the thickness of the door.

How to choose a door and window professional

Searching for door and window dealers near me returns showrooms, fabricators and installers all describing themselves similarly. What separates the ones worth shortlisting:

  • They measure on site before quoting, rather than pricing from a room size.
  • They tell you which material suits your opening, including when a cheaper one is the better answer.
  • They name the profile, the hardware brand and the glass specification — not just the material.
  • They are clear about whether they supply, fabricate, install, or all three.
  • They state who makes good the wall finish after fitting.
  • They give a warranty covering hardware and installation, not only the product.

Before deciding, consider

  • Whether the quote includes the frame, or only the shutter.
  • Whether fitting, sealing and finishing around the opening are included.
  • What the lead time is from measurement to installation.
  • Whether existing frames can be reused, or must be removed.
  • Who handles service later if a track, hinge or lock fails.

How door and window work is usually quoted

Pricing is normally per unit or per square foot of the opening, and the two are not interchangeable — so always confirm which is being used. Fabricated units are quoted after measurement; ready-made ones from a dealer are quoted from stock sizes.

What moves a quote: the material and profile, glass specification, hardware brand, whether mesh or grille is included, and whether installation and making-good sit inside the scope. Fire rated and soundproof units are priced separately because the specification, not the size, drives them.

Post your requirement with how many doors and windows, roughly what sizes, whether it is new construction or replacement, and any specific need such as soundproofing or mesh. Interested professionals will contact you to discuss materials and arrange a measurement.

Frequently Asked Questions

Which material is best for doors and windows in India? expand_more
There is no single best material — it depends on where the opening is and what it faces. UPVC and aluminium handle weather, dust and coastal air well and need little maintenance. Wood suits main doors and interiors where appearance matters most. Steel is chosen for security and fire rated applications, WPC and PVC for wet areas such as bathrooms. Tell the professional where the opening is and they can narrow it down.
What is the difference between a dealer, a manufacturer and a fabricator? expand_more
A dealer supplies ready-made products from brands they stock. A manufacturer produces them. A fabricator cuts and assembles profiles to your exact measurements on site or in a workshop, which is what non-standard openings usually need. Many listed professionals do more than one of these — it is worth asking which applies to your job.
Can existing doors and windows be replaced without breaking the wall? expand_more
Often yes. Replacement within the existing frame, or fitting a new frame inside the old opening, avoids most of the breaking. Whether it works depends on the condition and squareness of the existing opening, which is why an on-site measurement matters before anything is ordered.
How long does installation take? expand_more
It depends on whether the units are standard or fabricated to size, and on how many openings are involved. Fabricated units need measurement, production and then fitting, so the schedule is driven by production time rather than the fitting itself. Ask for the measurement-to-installation timeline, not just the fitting date.
What should I check before finalising? expand_more
Confirm the exact material and profile, the hardware brand, the glass specification where relevant, whether the frame and fitting are included, and who makes good the wall finish around the opening. Get the measured sizes in writing — once units are fabricated to size, they cannot be adjusted.
