Looking for Smart Automation Services?

Every automation job is different. You may be starting with smart lighting in one room, adding a smart lock and video-free entry, motorising curtains, automating a gate, or bringing a whole building onto one control system.

Your priorities may differ too — convenience, energy savings, control while you are away, or simply a system that still works when the internet does not.

The difficulty is not finding someone who sells smart devices. It is finding someone who makes them work as one system.

Smart Automation Services in India

Automation is not one job. It is many — lighting, locks, gates, curtains, climate, networking, a whole building system. Every service below opens its own page, so you can go straight to what you actually want automated.

Not listed here? Describe it in your own words in the requirement box — smart automation work rarely fits neatly into one category.

Understanding smart automation

About smart automation in India

Automation has quietly stopped being a luxury add-on. A smart switch, a lock you can open for a delivery, a light that comes on when you walk in — these are ordinary now. What has not kept up is the installation. A very large share of what people describe as "the smart device is not working" turns out to be a setup, network or compatibility problem rather than a faulty device.

That is the honest reason the installer matters more than the brand here. Devices from good manufacturers mostly work. Making twelve of them from four manufacturers behave like one system, and keep behaving that way after a router change, is the actual skill.

What smart automation covers

If it can be switched, dimmed, opened, closed or scheduled, it can usually be automated. In practice most work falls into these areas:

  • Smart lighting — dimming, scenes, schedules and motion-triggered lights. The most common starting point, and the one people notice daily.
  • Smart locks and door automation — PIN, fingerprint or app entry with entry logs, and temporary access for staff or deliveries.
  • Gate automation — sliding and swing gate motors with remote, app or sensor operation.
  • Curtains and blinds — motorised tracks on schedules or scenes.
  • Climate control — air conditioning tied to schedules, occupancy or temperature rather than left running.
  • Entertainment and AV — home theatre, multi-room audio and single-remote or voice control.
  • Sensors — motion, door, water leak, gas and smoke sensors that trigger actions rather than only alerting.
  • Irrigation — scheduled or moisture-based watering for gardens and terraces.

Retrofit or new wiring: which applies to you

This is the first thing a good installer establishes, because it decides what is possible.

  • Retrofit — modules sit behind your existing switchboards. Your normal switches keep working, and app plus voice control is added on top. Nothing is broken, nothing is rewired. This is how most finished homes get automated.
  • New wiring — during construction or renovation, device positions, cable routes and control points are designed in from the start. More flexible, and neater, but only available if you are already opening walls.

One detail decides a lot in retrofit work: whether there is a neutral wire at the switch box. Many older Indian homes do not have one, and its absence rules out a range of smart switches. An installer who checks this before recommending products is saving you a return trip.

Choosing a platform before choosing devices

This is the decision people make last and should make first. Mixing products that were never designed to talk to each other is the single most common reason a smart home feels unreliable.

  • Pick the assistant your household already uses. Alexa and Google Home both tie multiple brands together well; the right one is the one already on your phone.
  • Single-brand ecosystems give the smoothest experience and the simplest support, but lock you into that brand later.
  • Mixed setups offer more choice but need a hub or integration layer, and someone who understands it.
  • Check the network first. Automation sits on top of Wi-Fi. A weak or overloaded router will make perfectly good devices look broken.

What happens when the internet or power goes down

This is the question almost nobody asks before installation and everybody asks afterwards. The answer depends entirely on how the system was designed, and it is worth settling in advance.

  • Local control keeps working. Systems designed around local processing continue to run lighting, switches and locks without internet.
  • Cloud-dependent features stop. Most voice commands, remote access from outside the home, and some schedules rely on a connection.
  • Manual override must always exist. Every smart lock needs a mechanical key. Every gate motor needs a manual release. Every automated light should still work from a physical switch.
  • Power backup matters for gates, locks and anything that would trap you in or out.

Ask the installer directly: what still works with no internet, and what still works with no power. A good one will answer without hesitating.

Automation for offices, hotels and buildings

At a commercial scale the same technologies get used for different reasons — consistency and control rather than convenience. Offices use occupancy-based lighting and centralised climate control so empty floors are not conditioned and lit. Hotels automate room lighting, climate and curtains with controls simple enough for a guest and centralised enough for housekeeping.

A building management system, or BMS, brings lighting, climate, energy monitoring and equipment status into one interface across a whole property. Industrial automation is a separate discipline again, dealing with process equipment and machinery rather than comfort.

How to choose an automation professional

Searching for automation experts near me returns installers, electricians and device dealers all describing themselves similarly. What separates the ones worth shortlisting:

  • They ask what you want to achieve before recommending any product.
  • They check your switchboards for a neutral wire, and your network, before proposing anything.
  • They settle the platform question first and explain the lock-in either way.
  • They can tell you exactly what keeps working offline and without power.
  • They configure scenes, schedules and user access before handover — not leave you with an app and a manual.
  • They demonstrate the whole system working, and show you how to add a device yourself later.
  • They are reachable afterwards, because a router change or a new device will eventually need them.

Before deciding, consider

  • Whether devices are supplied by them or bought by you, and who then owns compatibility problems.
  • Whether the system can be expanded later, or is fixed at what is installed now.
  • How many separate apps you will end up with — more than two is a sign of poor integration.
  • What happens to your automation if you change your internet provider or router.
  • Whether the installation is documented, so a different professional could work on it in future.
  • For larger installations, whether ongoing support is available.

Post your requirement with what you want automated, whether the property is finished or under construction, and whether you already use Alexa or Google Home. Interested automation professionals will contact you to discuss platforms and what your property allows.

Frequently Asked Questions

What does smart automation actually include in India? expand_more
It covers anything that can be controlled, scheduled or triggered automatically — lighting, fans, curtains and blinds, air conditioning, door locks, gates, irrigation and entertainment. Most homes begin with lighting and locks and add to it over time. Commercial buildings usually start with centralised lighting and climate control through a building management system.
Can an existing home be automated without rewiring? expand_more
Yes. Retrofit smart switches and modules fit behind existing switchboards, so your normal switches keep working while app and voice control are added on top. This is the standard approach for finished homes. New construction can plan wiring for it, but nothing needs breaking either way — though a neutral wire at the switch box makes far more options available.
Which platform should I choose — Alexa, Google or a brand app? expand_more
Choose devices that work with the assistant your household already uses; both Alexa and Google Home tie multiple brands together well. A single-brand ecosystem gives the smoothest experience but locks you in. Decide this before buying a single device — compatibility first, gadgets second, because mixing incompatible products is the most common reason a system feels unreliable.
Will automation still work if the internet or power goes down? expand_more
It depends entirely on how it was designed. Systems built around local control keep working for lighting, switches and locks without internet; anything cloud-dependent, including most voice commands, will not. Ask specifically what continues to function offline, and make sure every smart lock has a mechanical key override. Gates and motors should also have a manual release.
Who supports the system after installation? expand_more
Device warranties come from their brands; configuration, integration and workmanship support come from the installer. Ask what happens when you add a device later, change your Wi-Fi router, or need a scene reconfigured — and whether they offer an ongoing maintenance arrangement for larger installations.
